Our flag is still flying …

July 28, 2010

Whether intended or not, the Obama administration’s decisions this past year have dampened the hopeful expectations of most Americans and  plundered the wealth of generations to come.

Granted I’m sensing this in comments on the Internet yet the pessimistic strains are still there.

Well, cheer up folks, we’re still one really great country, our flag is still flying and is still worth every ounce of blood we can give it. After all, the liberals and progressives are just flesh & blood.

Conformity not uniformity …

July 28, 2010

Uniformity is neither just nor equitable, and cannot be achieved in a free society.

The rejected law that wasn’t really rejected …

July 28, 2010

It’s imperative that conservative patriots not lose heart over the setback re Arizona SB1070. Consider this fight for right as something akin to the making of a cake. It’s a process.

You don’t have a cake when you get the recipe out, you don’t have a cake when you gather all the ingredients, you don’t have a cake just because you mixed the ingredients and now have a batter in the cake tin, you don’t have a cake when you put it in the oven, nor do you don’t have a cake when you take it out of the oven.

You don’t have a cake until you’ve put it on a plate and served it up. In this case your guest has asked for an “iced” cake … when this puppy is finally iced by SCOTUS in the months to come, then you’ll have a cake.

Our hope is that the cake doesn’t fall on the way to the plate.

Opposed by so many …

July 28, 2010

In this world I seek no more than life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness … how is it that I covet so little and yet am opposed by so many?

Two for one …

July 26, 2010

Two things can be eliminated from everyone’s life it we control just one of the two:

  1. worry concerning things we’ve no control over and
  2. anxiety about tomorrow

Lose the latter and the former takes care of itself.

PROPHETIC VOICE: A House Divided …

March 26, 2010

Jesus said, “A nation divided against itself cannot stand” …

Lincoln used Christ’s words to speak to the Illinois Republican party as they nominated him as their candidate for Senate.

I pray, as in the issues before Lincoln in his speech, we find ourselves, in the end, at a similar but different fork in the road, where we, by God’s grace,  choose the moral fork and end a better people than when we started this godforsaken journey.

A devastating Civil War was the unseen future for Lincoln and the Republicans; what, tell me, does our future hold? Clearly America will reap what she sows in the days ahead!

Taking liberty with the words of Lincoln –

I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half [Liberal] and half [Conservative]. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other.

Either the opponents of [socialism], will arrest the further spread of it, and place it where the public mind shall rest in the belief that it is in the course of ultimate extinction; or its advocates will push it forward, till it shall become alike lawful in all the [nation], [Capitalist] as well as [Marxist] — [Conservative] as well as [Liberal].

Of Lemonade & Curveballs …

January 12, 2010

I know when life gives us lemons  it is a mark of a man’s character if he can make lemonade from them, but when life gives us curveballs it’s a game of a different sort.

This requires taking a pitch or two and resisting the temptation to hit it out of the park; in this case one’s character is not measured by labor but rather patience, self-confidence, and skill.
